My God, I was in the year.

The most important thing is the castle: Victoria Pedretti, T’nia Miller.

The creator: Mike Flanagan

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of horror films and TV films, but I do like a well-designed backbone cooler. That’s why I loved the Haunted House on the Hill. So many elements came together and were of course executed with great care. That’s why I was looking forward to The Haunting of Bly Manor and wasn’t disappointed.

The ghosts of Bly’s Manor seem loosely based on an 1898 novel by Henry James Turn of the Screw. The limited edition is the second part of the Haunting Anthology, which was launched from Hill House on Netflix. Many castings return, and designer Mike Flanagan brings a familiar aesthetic feel to production.

Bly Manor is the story of Dani (Victoria Pedretti), a young American woman who came to England looking for a job. She finds a nanny for a few orphans in a large estate. We know that nothing good ever happens to nannies in remote country houses, so it’s not surprising that the property has a tragic past and the residents have many scars.

Besides the children, Flora and Miles, Dani spends her days with Hannah (T’Nia Miller), the housekeeper, Jamie (Amelia Eva), the gardener, and Owen (Rahul Kohli), the cook. Flora (Amélie B) is eight years old and is afraid of many things on the estate. Miles (Benjamin Evans Ainsworth) is ten years old and is often surprisingly unsuitable for adult women.

So this is Dani’s world, and there’s something wrong with it. A lot of things are bad, but they’re all small. Together they make Bly Manor a strange, but not scary place. We get to know the parents of the children, the first nanny, the uncle who owns the estate and the lives of the employees of the estate. Strange as the plot may be, Bly’s Manor doesn’t really scare the jumps. There are a few, but more about the oppressive atmosphere and the trailing spirits of the past.

Blye’s mansion is a worthy successor to the Hillhouses of Ghosts. It is not as dynamic as the first part of the franchise, but it is boring and full of contradictions that make you want to watch the next episode. Beautifully filmed and executed, but not with an asterisk, but solid. Victoria Pedretti and Henry Thomas do a service in a plot where they are depicted as the main characters, but are often on the sidelines. T’nia Miller and Rahul Kohli (who I recognize as Ravi from iZombie) are doing much better. Both actors are excellent and add essence to parts of the story that would be meaningless and unsatisfactory without them.

I generally liked Blye’s Ghost Mansion. They say it’s a flashback, which is risky but has little influence on the story itself. The story is twisted and confusing, but in a good way. The characters are usually worth keeping your fingers crossed, and the acting performances range from good to stunning. I am curious which direction Mike Flanagan will choose for his next contribution.

Sue loves taking care of her adult children too much. She cycles and slows down. She is responsible for the editing of Silver Beacon Marketing and the young Crazy Cat Lady.
