This is one of the most anticipated films of the year: It’s a big-budget feature film starring the young British actor Tom Holland, who’s been making waves and taking names on the big screen after his breakout performance as Spider-Man in the last Marvel film, “Captain America: Civil War”. The film is based on a true story, as Holland plays Romesh Ranganathan, a British soldier who was kidnapped by the Taliban, who were in turn caught by the British military. The film follows the human drama the young soldier faced, as he was given a choice: be killed by the Taliban, or be killed by the military.

I first saw this movie while in the army stationed in Hawaii. I had no idea what the movie was about and had to ask a few soldiers what it was about. They all immediately came up with the answer which made me laugh, and I knew that I had to write about it. After doing my research, this became a movie that I had to write about. This is a movie that was made in 1972, and was about a soldier who was going home to his family, when he was captured by North Koreans, and taken to a prison camp. He was placed into a prison camp, which was a terrible prison camp, and he was forced to work every day in horrible conditions. He couldn’t talk to his family, and was only. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from The Guys, and now we have our first look at one of the main characters in the upcoming season 3: Young female soldier, represented by Jensen Ackles. As you can tell from his appearance, he’s a parody of Captain America and will embody the machismo, military discipline, and cowboy attitude of the 1940s in the series… just like Captain America in The Ultimates. In this case, it seems that this formidable new enemy is turning what in the comics is just a cover into reality….. And that’s not the only change that occurs to the soldiers, as the original enemy(s) are anything but formidable. Let’s take a look together.

According to Victory Comics, which was sponsored by Vought-American, and thus was the official story sold to the press, Soldier Boy was a heroic soldier who underwent scientific experiments during World War II to become a super soldier and better serve his country. The experiments also gave him an abnormal lifespan, and after a period of hibernation, the superhero returned to fight evil in the modern world. It was all propaganda nonsense, of course: The original Soldier Boy lived through World War II, but the only experience he had was injecting the first version of Compound-V, and when he joined the war effort, he did so to promote the image of Vought-American, which at the time was trying to gain a monopoly on military supplies. Soldier Boy was the leader of the very first V-A super-team, The Avenging Squad, and joined the regular US Army in the Ardennes. The real soldiers weren’t too happy about a bunch of untrained civilians in masquerade suits, but V-A was sure that their superhuman skills would be enough to win the war… but they were wrong. Because of his incompetence, Soldier Boy sent his flying agents, such as Eagle Archer and Crimson Countess, on aerial reconnaissance, with the sole result that the Nazi army could more easily follow them into the camp. What follows is known as the Battle of the Bulge, and it is a bloodbath: The Germans killed every American they could find, and even the Avengers platoon didn’t stand a chance against their guns. Private Boy was crushed under an enemy tank, but survived thanks to the Compound-V : He calls for help from the only surviving soldier, Major Mallory, but the latter, disgusted by the man’s weakness and idiocy, knocks him down with a grenade.

The incident was kept secret, which made it easier for the V-A to declare the young soldier a national hero. When the company created a new superteam in the 1950s, Crimefighters Incorporated, it dressed another man in a soldier’s suit and claimed he was the one who had returned from war and put him in charge, gradually creating and capitalizing on the superhero mythos. The second boy soldier also died at some point and was replaced ten years later by a similar man, reintroduced as the original who awoke from his long sleep. This new soldier was the leader of Payback, the second best superteam in V-A’s arsenal… and he couldn’t wait to join the first one, the Seven. The young soldier, who had fully internalized the naivety and, in a sense, even innocence of his role, did not like being the object of retribution: Stormfront constantly questioned his authority, and the others despised him for his weak character; only Tek Knight, the only non-super member of the crew, was kind to him. In fact, the young soldier was quite different from the others: he never had any violent outbursts, didn’t take drugs, didn’t participate in the orgies of the Herogasm parties, didn’t even swear, was actually a bona fide patriot… And with a character like that, he was incompatible with the superworld in general, not just Payback. He also really believed in the Seven’s propaganda and befriended Homelander just to get a chance to join the team. He did everything the hero told him to do, and considered it a test of triumph. …. He even had sex with him (of course he was assured it wasn’t homosexual sex at all) and killed a few targets he hoped were as dangerous as Homelander had told him. Eventually, he and the other members of Payback were lucky enough to join the Seven: All they had to do was neutralize the Boys, the group that caused trouble for the V-A… …but it wasn’t going to be that easy…

Soldier Boy is a legacy of heroism, patriotism, selflessness and courage…. a legacy embodied by pathetic cowards and hopeless idiots. All three boy soldiers have the same skills: superhuman strength and endurance, enough speed to dodge bullets, and some experience in hand-to-hand combat and the use of a semi-destructible battle shield. Although the newest young soldier is nice enough, polite enough, patriotic enough, and in battle shouts the name of the American states, he too joins the ranks of his useless, stupid, cowardly predecessors, a lineage that goes back to the war and has not improved since.
