In news stories about the royal family, it is common to describe Queen Elizabeth as the oldest and rightful ruler of the United Kingdom.

As a result, we tend to associate Queen Elizabeth with prestigious events and deeds. This mental image made the recent revelation even more shocking: The Queen has awarded a British sex toy company one of the UK’s most prestigious business awards!

Queen Elizabeth praises sex toy company Lovehoney

Since its inception in 2002, Lovehoney has grown to become the UK’s largest online sex toy company. Today this adult institution received the highest honour from Queen Elizabeth herself.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is an international enterprise award. Queen Elizabeth recognized the sex toy company for its exceptional and consistent growth in overseas sales over the past six years.

Queen Elizabeth apparently focused more on how the company contributed to her country’s revenue than on what the company sold, praising Lovehoney for its 365% growth in overseas revenue. The adult retail chain also contributed to exports: The share of export sales has increased from 27% at the beginning to 45% now.

In assessing the company’s growth, Lovehoney executives noted that the adult toy company thrived after being allowed to develop the official 50 Shades of Grey product line.

Through the partnership, Lovehoney is offering several lines, including a collection celebrating the book’s 10th anniversary, the adult retailer said in a statement.

Lovehoney also let it be known via Twitter that he was pleased with Queen Elizabeth’s honor.

We are delighted to have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Entrepreneurship: International Trade 2021! We are immensely proud of our continued success and this award is great recognition for our hard working and passionate teams at Lovehoney, said the adult retailer.

We are delighted to receive official recognition from the Queen, said Debbie Bond, commercial director of Lovehoney. Her Majesty has been a huge supporter of Lovehoney as we become the world’s largest sexual health brand.

The partnership with 50 Shades of Grey has given Lovehoney the opportunity to create many new product lines. One of these collections commemorates the 10th anniversary of the publication of the X-rated books.

Lovehoney has sold adult toys in several countries around the world, including the United States and Canada. Other countries served by the adult sex toy company include France, Australia, Germany, Spain and New Zealand.

The royal patronage will help us create more jobs in our Bath headquarters and international offices and spread the message of sexual happiness around the world, Bond shared.

Lovehoney’s commercial director also said that Queen Elizabeth’s own award shows that adult sex toys have become a recognised activity.

The Queen is the UK’s greatest ambassador for trade and her support shows once again that the general public and retailers are embracing sexual health products like never before and recognise their importance to the overall wellbeing – a particularly important message as we emerge from isolation mode after a busy year of pandemic conditions, Bond said.
