Have you seen Emmy 2020? Really? Okay. Okay. Okay, okay. Let’s talk about her. To be more specific, let’s talk about two very specific categories that I find particularly interesting.

Exceptional actress in a limited series or a film and exceptional actress in a limited series or a film. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. These two categories are pretty heavy, but among them there are 2 newcomers who really won my heart. Yeah, I know everyone loves Zendai’s first Emmy nomination. And I’m for it! Happy birthday, sweetheart! Of course not! I’m here on behalf of two individuals in particular who have managed to obtain Emmy nominations on their own terms. Think about it. The unorthodox subjects interest almost nobody, while normal people have almost no marketing. It was all verbal advertising. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I’m talking about Paul Mescal and Shire Haas, of course. If you read my blog, you know I’m obsessed with two great TV shows. One is a normal person and the other is unorthodox. I love them, and I think they are a relief between the usual Hollywood dramas, superhero dramas and all the other dramas that claim this award.

If you haven’t seen normal or unorthodox people, I invite you to do so! AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I’m sure you’ll like them, too. What for? For both are adaptations of large books. Normal people are Sally Rooney and the neo-orthodox: Deborah Feldman’s disgraceful rejection of my Hasidic roots.

They’re full of incredible acting, and I love the way they go to the little screen. But at the heart of all this, there are two incredible achievements that have deserved Emmy nominations. In the categories Outstanding Actor/Actress.

But if you look at these 2 different categories, you will notice Paul and Shire’s rivals. A contest, if you like, and you can find some very big names in it. Huge names.

Let’s start with Shira Haas. Nominate with her:

Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schluffy in Mrs. America.

Regina King as Angela Abar / sister night at Storoshev.

Octavia Spencer as Madame C.J. Walker in Self Made.

Kerry Washington as Mia Warren in Little Fires Everywhere.

There are three Oscar-winning actresses and a television favorite named Kerry Washington. But don’t think for a second that Paul is much easier in his category. Why, because guess who it is?

Jeremy Irons as Adrian Wade in Storoshev.

Hugh Jackman as Dr Frank Tasson on the poverty of education.

Jeremy Pope as Archie Coleman in Hollywood.

Mark Ruffalo as Dominic and Thomas Berdsy.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, to be honest, I don’t think Paul and Shire have a chance of winning. No, I’m afraid Kate is a favourite among the ladies, while Mark and Hugh are the favourites in the men’s department. But who knows? Miracles happen, and we just have to wait and see. It is no longer entirely clear whether the actual ceremony will take place on the 20th. September live in the theatre of Microsoft or if it is a zoom meeting. Time will tell with this terrible pandemic.

But tell me… Which actress / actor / TV film do you prefer? Who’s gonna win? Tell me in the comment section. I wish I knew.
