Greetings, Asian filmmakers and producers! Documentaries will be accepted until January 15th, 2022, at the Doc Edge Film Festival in New Zealand.

The following is information about the festival: Doc Edge is a place where you may find stories that will alter your life. Our kaupapa (mission) is to promote, encourage, and celebrate documentary filmmaking. Doc Edge is an annual feature and short documentary film festival in Auckland, Wellington, and online that qualifies for the Academy Awards®. Its goal is to find global and international premieres that are suitable for Oscar® consideration.

It is dedicated to choosing the finest quality films that demonstrate brilliance in storytelling, promote diversity, and inspire social change from New Zealand and across the globe. Doc Edge is pleased to be one of the Pacific’s premier film festivals, and it is eager to assist filmmakers working on Pacific-themed projects.

General Requirements: – Documentaries must be finished by June 1, 2020. – Documentaries must be New Zealand Premieres (i.e., they cannot have been shown publicly in New Zealand at other festivals, in theaters, on broadcast, on VOD/online, or on any other public platform), with World and International Premieres given priority. – The submitting party (“the Submitter”) must have the authorization to submit the film to Doc Edge and the sole rights to show it theatrically in New Zealand (including all music clearance rights). – Short documentaries (under 40 minutes) and feature documentaries are accepted in the International Documentaries division (over 40 minutes). – Short documentaries (under 40 minutes), feature documentaries (over 40 minutes), secondary student films (under 10 minutes), and tertiary student films are all accepted in the New Zealand Documentaries division (under 20 minutes). – All non-English films must include English subtitles and closed captions, if available. Dubbing isn’t an option. – Fees and deadlines for submissions:

The 16th Doc Edge Film Festival will take held in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand, from June 2nd to July 10th, 2022, both online and onsite.
